Five generations of soft drinks
Francis Hartridge bought the Alliance Brewery in Hambledon in 1882 and began bottling soft drinks alongside his beer. When a wartime bomb destroyed the brewery but spared the soft drinks plant, the family took the hint, and they have made nothing but soft drinks ever since. Today the fourth and fifth generations still run the company from the original site.
